Storytelling as Shadow Work: Create Your Story's Heartbeat From Your Pain Point

$55.00

*This workshop has taken place. You will receive access to the recording

We all come into our lives with pain points. The specifics aren't as important as the themes. Perhaps it is a tale of oppression. Misogyny. Displacement. Grief. Generational patterns. Whatever it is, there is a pain point that is waiting to become your narrative's heartbeat. This workshop will prompt writers to create a character that symbolizes their shadow self. Generative prompts and open sharing will leave participants with launching points for story ideas and tools to continue mining their personal life experiences for excellent writing material. All are welcome in this workshop, fiction and non-fiction writers, poets and short storytellers alike.

Julia Childs is a writer and psychotherapist who specializes in helping creative women of color heal from anxiety, depression, and trauma. She brings a heart-centered, warm, and intuitive approach to her work by honoring the relationship between soul, self, and the systemic structures in our lives. In her writing work, she focuses on the intersections of creativity, mental health, and social justice. She has penned articles for Parents, Verywell Mind, and Shape and is currently at work on a memoir about generational trauma, grief, and healing. She comes to this work honestly, is guided by the spirit of those who came before her, and cannot wait to see your evolution.
